AT THE LYRIC
MY parents would only attend films at the LYRIC theater, downtown, between Kresge's and Woolworth's....at the left of the theatre was a tiny chocolate shop that had the most delicious chocolate-covered orange peels.......incentive enough for me, of course.......Whenever we attended a movie, as a family, it would always be at the LYRIC, where the big technicolor, all singing, all dancing, Cinemascope and Vistavision movies would be shown......just about all these films were upbeat, cheerful and optimistic.......and i usually viewed one every week........many youths of today find these old movies corny, stagey and operatic.......I loved them then and they still tug at my heartstrings with unabashed sentimentality and optimistic innocence........
