At an early age, I began collecting these colorful, and sometimes exquisitely beautiful sheets of woodblock printed rice paper...They
were usually inexpensive....within my college student's budget.....Now there are hundreds of them...in boxes, portfolio cases, framed and stored in trunks......Recently, I have initiated an
organization of these into groups of informational and historical prints such as this one and more strictly artistic ones whose expressiveness transcends decorative value.....by December, I hope to have my favorites of them posted to this blog.........I was just thinking, "this could go on forever!"......but, why not! all this "stuff" deserves a perspective, maybe..........and to be shared by others..........Much of my collections will end up in the vaults of museums........some will be fortunate enough to be displayed in viewing areas.........and just think........all that is....all that we see or experience with other senses or think about with conscious intent....is but a tiny speck on a grain of sand.........it is what we imagine, through art, that lifts us from the surface of this speck of dust.....
