THE KNIGHTS OF AGINCOURT

 



When i was a lad, reading "A Connecticut Yankee In King Arthur's Court", watching "Robin Hood",
Robert Taylor as Ivanhoe,
and was fixated on Camelot and Medieval costuming, my Aunt Louise sent me, from France,
a set of enamelled metal knights on horseback......i spent hours configuring them into
various scenarios involving attacking plastic monsters being carried in open bed cars
of my Lionel Train set (which i still have...and is operable); travelling with Lemuel
Gulliver to the world of Horses; and lining the shelves of my dormitory at Vanderbilt..
Currently, the knights---still tirelessly fighting, furiously-- sit on the window, oblivious to the
singing birds outside........
