My mother, like her mother, generally avoided the sun, and attributed any "age spots" to having been a foolish
youth.....This is the only picture of her with a tan.....Tom, my step-father was a sun-lover who eventually
suffered from skin cancer......I've always been a shade-lover, although I once applied a "suntan" creame that
temporarily changed my skin to an unattractive orange color.......I think it so irrational that people so admire sun tans and even risk their lives to have them, acquiring the rugged countenance of summer day laborers.....
