Equipped, by third grade, with turn out and taps, i engaged the old piano in my Grandmother's house.......piano exercises from Virgil Thomson and Hanon's "The Virtuoso Pianist In 60 Exercises" I had no real talent for it, but I was an artiste'.........i had not, as yet, held a round or elliptical ball in my tender little hands.....and had no plans to do so! And what a racket i could make, placing sheets of paper across the strings......hanging objects from the hammers....doing whatever i could to create something "different".......all along, thinking this how others must think and do......no? when my Grandfather locked the piano keyboard cover.....out of exasperation at my constant "noise"......i turned to embellishing aunt Louise's medical books with colored pencils and crayons.......the illustrations WERE in boring black and white, after all....!!
